Paradiso Cinema Club - Belfast
When: Friday 10 November 2023
Wickham Hall - 23 Ashburton Road, Bovey Tracey. TQ13 9YQ
The next film selected by our Cinema Club panel is Belfast, a humorous, tender and intensely personal story of one boy's childhood during the tumult of the late 1960s.
15 August 1969. Surrounded by sporadic violence and growing danger, nine-year-old Buddy finds himself confronted with the ugly reality of sectarian conflict. And, as the suffocating stranglehold of increasing turmoil tightens around his once-peaceful working-class neighbourhood, Buddy tries his best to understand The Troubles--after all, someone must be responsible for forcing people to flee their homes. Now, Buddy's family must come face to face with a nearly impossible, life-altering decision: stay or start packing?
Tickets are priced at £7.50 each and are non-refundable. There are only a limited number of tickets available and are released on a first -come first served basis with Paradiso Cinema Club members having early access.
Doors at Wickham Hall will open at 18.45 with the film starting at 19.30. Drinks (licensed bar) and light snacks will be available to purchase. There will be an intermission for refreshments and leg stretching.
Please note there is limited on street parking at the venue and we recommend that you park at the Riverside car park - a short 5-10 minute walk. Wickham Hall is a wonderful venue for our Cinema Club nights but is not the purpose built cinema that we will have at Paradiso - you may wish to bring a cushion with you on the night to improve the seat comfort!
Please note we may substitute the film on the night if there are any technical difficulties.
